A XVIII Century location in the heart of Turin
The Palace was built by Gian Giacomo Plantery for Baldassarre Saluzzo di Paesana between 1715 and 1722. It is the largest, most elaborate Palace in the city and integrates decorative requirements, representative functions and rational exploitation of the parts that were leased.
The side looking onto Via del Carmine housed the servants’ quarters and stables. The Palace is looking onto a great courtyard of honor. In this part of the building, where the luxury apartments were leased, all the canonical are doubled with two entrances, two staircases of honor and two counterpoised loggias. The atrium is covered by a typical sail vault with lunettes which rests exclusively on the structures of the perimeter. The two great halls served as courtly vestibules for each pair of apartments.
The Master Apartment of the Saluzzo family, which still conserves XVIII century furniture and decoration, including the door cases and the vaults painted by Domenico Guidobono, is now home of prestigious events.
